1.
What is a domain name?
A
domain name is the web address for your website, ie:
yourdomain.com.
2.
What is the difference between free or paid hosting?
Free
hosting is hosting that is supported by advertising
from sponsors. This usually involves banner ads, or
coded text at the top or bottom of your website. When
using free hosting, you generally do not have a choice
what types of ads are included - and many people vising
your site will become frustrated. There is a potential
to lose web traffic and sales when using free hosting.
Paid hosting is a hosting service that you pay either
monthly or annually for. There are no banner ads,
or exterior coding from the hosting company.
3.
If you create my website, who registers the domain
name and hosting?
I
generally will register the domain names and order
the hosting as part of my service to my clients. The
fees for these services are paid for by the client.
4.
How soon after my deposit is paid will my site be
finished?
I
work quite fast, I typically have a website set up
and ready to upload to the www within a week. Delays
can occur if the client needs more time preparing
text and photos. I have been known to build a complete
website from start to finish in 1 day. The actual
time involved setting up your website depends on the
complexity of the design, availability of information
provided by the client, and schedule.
5.
If I want you to keep my website updated, do you offer
a maintenance service?
Yes.
I always offer maintenance to my clients at the monthly
rate of $20.00 per month. This includes any and all
changes to the website that may be necessary.
6.
If I would like to use graphics that are purchased
from a graphic artist, will that be ok?
In
most cases, yes. It is the client's responsibility
to purchase the graphics that are to be used on the
website. It is important to respect graphic artists
terms of use, and therefore, I will not use any clipart/graphics
that violate the artists TOS or are not credited appropriately
to the artist.
